New Jersey Beauty & Boudoir ~ What to Wear for My Boudoir Shoot

Hello ladies,

I’m excited to report you’ll be hearing a lot more from me. My team has grown. We have a lot of fun boudoir opportunities planned.

Many of you ask me, “What should I wear for my boudoir shoot?” Guest blogger, Angela Courtney, owner of Sweetest Sin Lingerie Boutique has some helpful hints below.

What to Wear for My Boudoir Shoot?

One of the most intimidating aspects of your first boudoir shoot can also be the most basic: what do you wear? We’ve helped outfit lots of women for all sorts of styles of boudoir shoots, from maternity looks to bridal themed outfits. Today I’m going to give you some tips to help you pick the perfect boudoir shoot outfit whether you’re celebrating a relationship, a new life or just the awesomeness that is you.

Black is classic for a reason.

If you’re new to the world of lingerie, you can never go wrong with the tried and true. Black lingerie has been constantly en vogue for good reasons: it’s flattering on everyone and there’s tons of variation. It’s also practical for daily wear, which means you can reuse those amazing pieces you bought for your boudoir shoot.

You don’t have to bare it all.

Everyone has areas of their body they don’t love – we’re all only human! If you want to buy lingerie that covers up areas you love a little less than others, go for it. The lingerie you choose for your boudoir shoot should make you feel sexy and confident, which is hard if all you can picture are the parts of your body you’re not as happy with. Make sure to pick pieces that highlight areas you love as well as cover up areas that you aren’t a fan of. This can also be a great confidence builder. After all, how often do we get a chance to sit down and think about the parts of our bodies that we feel great about?

Sheer robes are a great place to start if you want a sexy yet slightly more modest look, as are corsets.

Don’t forget to channel your personal style.

There’s a whole world of gorgeous lingerie out there, so focus on finding something that really reflects your everyday style. If you’re more of a neon mesh bra lady, there’s no reason to put on a corset and ruffled underwear if you don’t want to. Make sure that the pieces you choose reflect your personal style and tastes. You want to see you in the photos, not some stranger.

Don’t be afraid to ask for advice.

Everyone involved in your boudoir shoot, from your photographer to the lingerie shop assistant is there to be helpful. Don’t be afraid to articulate what hair and makeup look you want and don’t be afraid to ask for help! You’ll have a team of experts supporting you all the way, from lingerie shopping to photo selections.
