Candy apple lips, beyond bronze skin, and the moodiest of blues…
3 trends for Summer 2016.
by: Vicki Valenci
SEEING RED
As iconic as Marilyn, and a single rose. It doesn’t get more classic than a red lipstick. All across the board (more than ever before) makeup artists are in agreement on the shade. The color of the moment: Candy apple red-you know it like you know your name. Classic red through and through. As far as finish-anything goes; from satin, to patent lacquer, to velvety matte it’s all up for grabs. Whatever you choose, be sure to apply it with as much precision as possible.
BEYOND BRONZE
The sun kissed city girl, meets the Cali beach babe, and the desert wanderer. Naturally bronze skin with a subtle tan sheen, pinched cheeks, and lived in lip to match. It’s that endless summer glow that comes from beach hopping to all the most beautiful places in the world. Glow baby glow.
MOODY BLUES
I know what you’re thinking, “It’s pretty. It’s cool. It’s interesting, but it’s not for me.” “I would never be able to pull off BLUE.” I’m here to tell you, “YES, you can!” The best part of this trend is that there are absolutely no rules. You can wear it HOWEVER you want! Feeling sultry…smoke out your eyes with a metallic navy. A little playful…try pairing a neutral or a bronzy eye with a smudged turquoise or teal liner under the lower lash line. A light watercolor wash of a cool pastel blue over your lids is perfect for a soft romantic look. Bottom line…don’t be afraid to try!
